Tech Is Now Standard
- 60% of parents say their child has a 1:1 device issued by their school.
Screen Time Is High — Especially at School
At school:
32% = 30 min–2 hrs/day
21% = 2–4 hrs/day
14% = Over 4 hrs/day
At home:
28% = Zero screen time
25% = Under 30 minutes
Only 13% exceed 2 hours
AI in Classrooms? Parents Say NO
- 91% of parents do not want their children interacting with AI at school.
- 42% aren’t even sure if their kids already are.
Lack of Transparency
- Only 18% of parents say their school has disclosed privacy policies related to educational tech.
- 39% say no, 42% say they don’t know.
Safety & Inappropriate Content
- 21% report their child has seen inappropriate content on a school-issued device.
- Only 6.5% feel strongly that their kids are safe using tech at school.
- 66% are not content with the amount of school screen time.
- 58% feel they have no say in their child’s screen use at school.
When Should Tech Begin?
Most parents prefer delaying tech:
- Only 2% support use in Pre-K
- Most say 4th–9th grade
- 6% say not until college
